Jasmine oil can help to reduce stress and anxiety, increase alertness and help with insomnia. It emits a floral and calming scent. This can be used as offering on the Tibetan Buddhist altar as one of the eight auspicious items (perfume).

Uses for Buddhism practices include:
- an offering to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas as part of the eight offerings, symbolizing perfume
- roll on a little oil on your wrist, temple or back of the ear before meditation or chanting to set a calming and conducive environment for your practice
- roll on a little oil on your mala beads to cleanse and allow the fragrance linger around you when you practice chanting or wear it with you
